Barcelona will host Real Valladolid at Camp Nou. After their opening disappointment, Catalans bounced back in the second matchday with a fantastic win over Real Sociedad. Barcelona scored 4 past good Sociedad with the firepower they upfront it should be a routine for them but then again it’s football and anything can happen over here.

With Barcelona playing a friendly against Manchester City in midweek where we saw rotation from coach Xavi Hernandez. Barcelona benched their many first-team superstars and used almost a second-team against Manchester City.

With heavy rotation against City, it would be interesting to see what sort of starting XI Xavi opts for their game against Valladolid in this game week in Laliga.

Barcelona Predicted XI

With his experiment with back 3 formation backfired we might see Xavi opting back to the traditional 4-3-3 against Valladolid. But then again Xavi Hernandez is regarded as a stubborn manager we might again see a back 3 formation. Let’s see what could be Barcelona playing XI.

The Defense

In goal with Pena getting the nod against Manchester City. It’s obvious that Ter Stegen will get the start in the goal against Valladolid. Coming into defence here things get interesting at fullback with Jordi Alba starting against Manchester City but wasn’t that impressive so young Balde was brought on. With Balde being rested against Manchester City it was clearly a sign that Balde might get the nod in their line-up against the Laliga game.

At Right back with Dest out of favour there will be a choice between Araujo and Sergi Roberto. But with Araujo struggling in 2 games we might see Roberto given an opportunity. Especially after seeing his good performance against Manchester City.

Now at the heart of the defence, we might see change if Jules Kounde gets registered in time then we might see getting the first start for Barcelona in Laliga. But then again if Kounde doesn’t get registered then we might see the duo of Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia starting against Valladolid.

The Midfield

Last game where Sergio Busquets was suspended we saw Barcelona adopting a different formation in midfield. Barcelona adopted a double pivot with Frenkie De Jong and either one of Gavi and Pedri playing alongside him as the double pivot. Barcelona clearly struggled with that formation. Barcelona’s midfield struggled a lot with that bit of weird formation to maintain control over the game.

With Sergio Busquets’s suspension over we might see him definitely returning to the starting XI. Busquets slotting in at the base of the Barcelona midfield we might see old ways of Barca midfield back. Coming into the 2 interiors Pedri is a certainty to start. For that second interior spot, there are 3 names to choose from for Xavi. Gavi Kessie and Frenkie De Jong.

But considering the fact that whenever De Jong comes on the field Barca’s gameplay gets much better and more effective, Xavi gives De Jong a start over Kessie and Gavi.

The Attack

In attack, Xavi has a lot of quality options to go with. One name who is a certainty to get started in all those quality attackers is Robert Lewandowski. The Polish International has been in good form. He scored a brace in the last game against Sociedad. Lewandowski is Barca’s focal point in their attack. Also, the Polish international is good with build-up play and also that time drops deep to receive the ball and then create chances for his teammate.

Coming into the flanks, Barcelona has a lot of options. But with the indication that we got their friendly game starting squad list, Dembele was completely rested for that game. So we might see Dembele get a start from the right flank. On that left flank, Xavi has the option of Raphinha Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati. Seeing the impact that Ansu Fati had in the last game against Sociedad, we might see the front 3 of Raphinha- Lewandowski- Fati.
