Leicester City have conducted good business in Claude Puel’s first summer transfer window but they might lose their star man to the Red Devils.
As Roy Hodson’s England were knocked out by an impressive Iceland, a certain Englishman watched from the stands with his friends. Two years later the same person was responsible for the Three Lions’ remarkable outing in Russia. Harry Maguire has had a meteoric rise which is about to get better if Leicester City struck a deal with Manchester United.
Leicester identifying replacements?
Manchester United have supposedly made a £65m approach for Maguire. The Foxes have made their intentions clear that the 25-year-old will not be allowed to leave. It is also expected that the former Hull City man will be offered a bumper contract. But The Sun report Leicester have lined up a £35m bid for Magpies center-back Lascelles.
The former Nottingham Forest defender’s reputation has risen significantly over the last couple of seasons. Getafe’s Djene Dakonam is another player linked to former Premier League Champions. Now suggestions have arisen that the club might look to cash in on Maguire if they can land their targets.

Claude Puel on Harry Maguire
Claude Puel is confident sought-after stars Maguire and Schmeichel will still be at Leicester City next season. “I think we can keep both players. It is crucial for us,” the Foxes boss told reporters after a 2-1 friendly loss to Udinese in Austria. We cannot lose players just a few days before the beginning of the season. We would not be able to find a solution and we cannot be behind. Kasper and Maguire are so valuable for us. It is important to maintain our structure, our squad and all our valuable players for the team.”
Jose Mourinho on transfers
“I would like to have two more players and I think I am not going to get two,” Mourinho told reporters. “I think that it’s possible I will have one. And that one, I gave a list to my club of five names a few months ago. And I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players.”
“If it’s possible, it’s possible and if it’s not it’s not. If it’s possible, it’s good, if not then we keep fighting and working and believing in the players that we have.”
Author’s take-
Harry Maguire would be a good addition to the Manchester United squad. The defender has all the qualities to succeed at a big club. However, Leicester might not move Maguire on despite them being linked to other centre-halves. Harry Maguire will be at Old Trafford on the opening day of the Premier League. But the real question is in Blue or in Red?
