English giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are in a battle and are preparing a bid to sign Fulham superstar Ryan Sessegnon in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old defender was one of the brightest talents for the relegated side and top Premier League suitors are monitoring his situation at the moment to keep him playing his football in England’s top division.
Manchester United endured quite a torturous season this time in the Premier League as they finished in sixth place and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is well aware that he needs reinforcements in the summer transfer window to take the Red Devils further and probably win some silverware in the near future.
One main department that United need to strengthen is their back line and Manchester United are looking to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham this summer.
The young full-back is also capable of playing higher up the field in a winger’s role. Sessegnon played a major part in bringing Fulham into the Premier League last season but couldn’t keep them in England’s Premier division.
However, United aren’t the only club interested in signing Sessegnon as Fulham’s local London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also in the hunt for the left-back. Reports claim that Sessegnon is also keen on playing for Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side.
The reason why Sessegnon is preferring a move to North London is that Tottenham can offer his Champions League football. European giants Paris Saint Germain, Juventus and even German club Red Bull Leipzig are keen admirers of the teenage sensation.
Fulham boss Scott Parker has admitted that he is vulnerable to losing his best players because of relegation and the club could be powerless in trying to keeping Sessegnon at Craven Cottage, “When you’re relegated you’ll always be vulnerable to losing your best players,” he said last month. We will be no different. “In saying that, the owners are committed to this team and have invested a lot of money into this team. I have no doubt they will be doing everything in their power to keep the best talent and best players so that gives us an opportunity next year. Of course, I’d love Ryan Sessegnon to be at the club. Ryan fits into the bracket of a few others we want to keep.”
Sessegnon finally got a taste of the Premier League but it will take him time to adapt to one of the biggest clubs in world football. With Manchester United also looking to rebuild in the next few seasons, the English defender would do well at Old Trafford in Solskjaer’s team.
