Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp is confident of signing Barcelona’s striker Luis Suarez this summer, according to reports in Spain.
These reports comes in the aftermath of Barcelona’s signing of Liverpool ace midfielder Philippe Coutinho after months of resistance.
The Merseyside club for did not want to bid goodbye to the Brazilian midfielder, despite knowing that the midfielder wanted a move away from the club. Coutinho moved to Nou Camp in a huge £142million deal, which has shocked fans back in England.
Furthermore, Barcelona are set to bolster their attack by signing Atletic forward Antoine Griezmann, which might result in a move for Suarez. According to Diario Gol, Klopp is now confident of landing the ex-Reds star in what would inarguably be the biggest shock of the January transfer window.
Suarez bound to go back to Anfield?
The Uruguayan is a fan favourite at Anfield, with his stint at the Merseyside club where he excelled before moving to the Catalans. Suarez scored 31 goals in only 33 games in the Premier League in 2013/14, tying Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most goals scored by an individual in a 38-game season. Liverpool narrowly missed out on a first Premier League title, powered by a rampaging Suarez.
The German manager has told the striker that he will score many more goals at Anfield this season than he would score at Camp Nou.

Klopp is a strong believer that Suarez is not a good fit for the side under Ernesto Valverde and is head-on to bring the striker back home to the Premier league after Coutinho’s exit. Speaking in 2016, the Uruguayan admitted that he would return to Liverpool if he exited Camp Nou.
“I’d prefer to stay here for many more years,” he said. “I know it doesn’t always turn out that way. “But if I had to return to the Premier League, I would only go to Liverpool. I wouldn’t go to another team, ” he said
“It wouldn’t be a move for money. I’d also love to play again for Ajax as they allowed me to develop as a player in Europe,” concluded Suarez.
While it is a huge loss for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit to see Coutinho move to Barcelona, the Catalan club might quite not let their star striker on sale this season. Even if the star striker wants to move from Camp Nou, it would not be in this transfer window or the next one to come. Klopp might just be hopeful of a returning Suarez which might not come in reality for Liverpool this season.
