Premier League manager rules out selling Real Madrid target

The Premier League star continues to be linked with a move away to Real Madrid, but his manager has finally answered the rumors surrounding the star.

The 27-year-old has been at Old Trafford since 2011, despite being linked multiple times with a move away, with Real Madrid very interested in his services. However, despite a move between Manchester United and Los Blancos falling through in 2015, David De Gea could now make a move next summer and Jose Mourinho has finally answered the rumors.

However, with Real Madrid really looking to revamp their team, in light of recent events which see the Los Blancos sit third in the league and a massive 16 points behind league leaders Barcelona. This has seen manager Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez target a few areas that they need to bring in world-class talents, and that includes a brand new goal-keeper.

However, while they are very very very interested in Manchester United’s David De Gea, the Los Blancos also want the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Gianluigi Donnaruma to replace current shot-stopper, Keylor Navas. But while it first looked like Jose Mourinho was willing to trade star David De Gea for a few Real Madrid stars, the former Chelsea manager has come to say the exact opposite.

In an interview on Saturday, Mourinho went on to say, “Do you think a club that is trying to attract the best players is the club that is open to sell the best players? It makes no sense.

If you want to go to that level you have to attract the best players like we did with Alexis [Sanchez], [Nemanja] Matic and [Paul] Pogba and so on. And don’t let our best players go.”

That’s exactly why reports from the Mirror and even Mundo Deportivio are flooding in with rumors that Real Madrid has decided to go after Thibaut Courtois instead. Chelsea has also been struggling in the Premier League and with back-to-back losses, the club’s title race is in the dumps. However, now just that both star Courtois and Eden Hazard’s future sits in doubt with Real Madrid chasing after both the Belgian stars.

Author’s take:

With David De Gea regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, it will be beyond difficult for Mourinho to replace the Spaniard, even if they bring in a replacement. And Jose Mourinho knows that, which is why Jose Mourinho has made it clear to anybody after him. Experience is something that cannot be replicated and the 27-year-old has that in spades, having made 285 appearances for the club.
