The race for this season’s EPL Golden Boot is heating up with the number of forwards in the contention to finish as the top scorer.
The Premier League title race was blown wide open after Manchester City’s 2-1 victory against Liverpool. The Reds are now 4 points ahead of the Citizens and 6 ahead of Tottenham. But that is not the only race taking shape in the English football as the chase for the Golden Boot is well and truly ON after 21 games.
The Golden Boot is awarded to Premier League’s top goal scorer at the end of every season. Mo Salah won the award last year, thanks to his record breaking 32-goal tally. The list of winners also includes the legendary names like Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, Thierry Henry and many more.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane lead the race this season with 14 goals each. The Englishman is not new to this award, having won it twice in the last three seasons. But the Gabon international is setting the stage on fire in his first full season with Arsenal. Last season’s winner, Mo Salah is not far behind with 13 goals.
EPL Top-scorers 2018-19:
|=4||Sergio Aguero||Manchester City|
|=6||Raheem Sterling||Manchester City|
|Anthony Martial||Manchester United|
|Felipe Anderson||West Ham||8|
|=9||Romelu Lukaku||Manchester United|

Despite the lead, Aubameyang and Kane still have a long way to go before they can pick up the award. With 17 more games to go in the league, predicting this year’s winner right now would be one hell of an unsafe bet.
