Striker ins and outs set to be resolved soon?
Chelsea have been searching for a reliable striker for a while now, and things have just gotten a lot more tangled, with a lot depending on external factors and other clubs. The saga involving Morata’s exit seems to be coming to a close as he is expected to complete his loan move to Atletico over the next 48 hours. The Spanish giants have apparently agreed on personal terms with the Spain striker, who will join on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy for £48.6 million in the summer.
Thanks to charging a high loan fee, Chelsea will mostly recoup the £58m they paid to Real Madrid in 2017 for Morata, should Atletico make the switch permanent. Gonzalo Higuain’s move, meanwhile, relies on AC Milan, where he is on a season-long, finalising the £31m purchase of Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa. A lot of crisscrossing in between clubs from various countries, but bank on Chelsea getting their striker as all these deals suit all parties involved.
