PSG and Real Madrid would be keen to move few players on, considering their sub-par performances this season and both would be interested in the others’ players.
Spanish news outlet, AS, are reporting that PSG might be looking at a few Real Madrid stars. The Parisians have failed to live up to their European expectations in Thomas Tuchel’s first season in charge. PSG’s Qatari owners have continuously expressed that succeeding in Europe is their prime target. But after they incredibly fell short to Manchester United, the ramifications might be coming.
The Real Madrid core
Apparently, Paris Saint-Germain are willing to bring in three superstars from the white half of Madrid. Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Isco are the names being suggested. This is not only a bid to replicate Real’s success in Europe, by bringing in three key contributors but would also work in a commercial sense. Bale, Kroos and Isco are well established footballing names who will draw lots off eyes and money towards the French capital.
But this is not something new for PSG. The Ligue 1 champions have already gone down this alley by bringing in Neymar and Mbappe. Both superstars put a significant dent in their transfer kitty but attracted a lot of attention to the French League, with UEFA being one of them. However, things haven’t changed much after two seasons with the clubs failing badly in Europe.
Now, PSG look to move few of its other stars viz, Cavani, Draxler, Kurzawa and Munier to make some room for the arrivals. There is also talk about Neymar looking for a move back to La Liga, with Real Madrid considered favourites. Moving Neymar would certainly cover the costs for the triple raid, valued around €170-180m by CIES.
While Isco and Kroos are interesting options, PSG should definitely avoid Gareth Bale. The 29-year-old will be turning 30 before the next season and commands a hefty wage, as suggested by his agent recently. The Welshman is highly injury prone and has struggled to maintain his performance levels on a consistent basis. And the presence of Neymar and Mbappe doesn’t help the cause.
Kroos could fit well in a Thomas Tuchel side but the one question mark is his physical capability. The German demands a lot from his players and an ageing Kroos could struggle to cope. But if Herrera joins PSG, he and Verratti could make up the yards for the German. Isco would certainly thrive under Tuchel. The Spaniard is known for his technical abilities and would compliment Neymar and Mbappe in the attack.
