PSG in Talks to Extend Marco Verratti’s Contract

PSG’s Marco Verratti is among the most talented midfielders of his generation. He joined the Paris outfit from Pescara in the summer transfer window of 2012.

Verratti has played 397 games (in all competitions) for the Parisians so far, registering 11 goals and 67 assists. The Italy international helped PSG claim eight Ligue 1 titles, among other honours. He won the 2013-14’s ‘UNFP Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Season’ accolade and was also included in the UNFP Ligue 1 Team of the Season’ on seven different occasions.

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are in advanced talks to extend Marco Verratt’s contract. His current contract expires at the end of next season.

On his social media account, Romano posted: Negotiations between Marco Verratti and Paris Saint-Germain over a new deal are well advanced. Verratti is open to staying and signing a new contract — it’s not fully done yet but talks are in progress.

Verratti has played 13 Ligue 1 games this season. His contract extension will be a massive boost for football advisor Luis Campos, who joined the club at the start of the current season. Apart from Verratti, PSG are also trying to extend the contracts of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe, and Marquinhos.

He recently revealed that French President Emmanuel Macron urged him to stay at the club. Mbappe said(via Sportskeeda): “Macron called me a few times to tell me that he doesn’t want me to leave PSG. I have a chance to make history at the Parc des Princes. The Whole country loves you.”
