PSG news: Kylian Mbappe has admitted his relationship with club teammate Neymar Jr is “sometimes colder and sometimes warmer”.
Speculation of a rift between Mbappe and Neymar had arisen after the duo argued over who should take a penalty in PSG’s 5-2 win over Montpellier.
The referee had awarded PSG a penalty in the 23rd minute of that match. Mbappe stepped up to take the spot kick but could not convert.
PSG then got another penalty in the 43rd minute of the match. Neymar grabbed the ball this time and took the penalty after discussion with Mbappe.

Mbappe has now admitted his relationship with Neymar is not always great. But he also insisted both he and Neymar have mutual respect for each other.
“It is my sixth year with Neymar. We have always had a relationship like this, based on respect, sometimes colder and sometimes warmer,” the Frenchman told reporters. “I have great respect for him and his influence on the team,” added the PSG superstar.
Meanwhile, PSG begins their Champions League 22/23 campaign by taking on Juventus in the group stage in their next match. The French behemoths have been drawn alongside Juventus, Benfica, and Maccabi Haifa in Group H.
Asked who would take a penalty against Juventus if they get one, Mbappe said they will see how it goes during the game. Mbappe also insisted that being the team’s first choice does not mean he will take all the penalties.
“I don’t know, we’ll see. We have to see how it goes during the match. Being first-choice doesn’t mean you’re going to take all penalties. You have to know how to divide the cake,” the 23-year-old said.
Meanwhile, PSG have got off to a stellar start to their 22/23 campaign. They kicked it off by winning the Trophée des Champions by defeating Nantes 4-0.
PSG also sits on top of the Ligue 1 table, having played six matches so far. They have won five and drawn the other and have 16 points.
PSG began their title defense by cruising to a 5-0 win over Clermont Foot. They then took Montpellier and defeated them 5-2.
PSG made it three wins in three matches with a comprehensive win over LOSC Lille. The defending champions ran riot to inflict a humiliating 7-1 defeat on Lille.
PSG’s perfect start to the season came to an end in the next game as AS Monaco held them to a 1-1 draw. The Parisians then secured a 3-0 win over Toulouse before registering another win against Nantes by the same margin.
