PSG News: Ousmane Dembele has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window.

Dembele is among the most talented attackers of his generation. He joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window of 2017.

The France international has played 108 LaLiga games so far, scoring 21 goals. He helped the Blaugrana win two LaLiga titles, two Cope del Rey and two Supercopa de Espana. Dembele was also part of the French team that lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

However, there was uncertainty over his future this summer after his contract at Camp Nou expired on June 30. However, the Blaugrana negotiated a new contract with him in July, extending his stay at the club until 2024.

Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director Luis Campos revealed the reason behind not signing Ousmane Dembele during the summer window.

Speaking to the media, he said: “We didn’t sign Dembélé because he’s a winger and we’re playing with another system. I love Dembélé, he’s great but we had different plans”. Talks between PSG and Dembélé took place with Leonardo as director.

The Paris outfit have enjoyed an excellent summer transfer window under the leadership of Campos and Christophe Galtier. They have spent an accumulated sum of £132.75 million on making reinforcements to their squad.

Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler, Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukeile, and Hugo Ekitike have joined their camp during the off-season.

Due to the loophole in his previous contract, Dembele received lucrative season bonuses despite not playing 50% of the club’s matches. However, the Blaugrana have tried to avoid any such situation and the France international will need to play a certain number of games per season to continue receiving bonuses.

Apart from Dembele, Samuel Umitit is another Barcelona player to have such a clause in his contract. Umtiti is currently plying his trade on loan at Serie A club, Lecce.
