PSG plotting move for Liverpool’s versatile midfielder

While Paris Saint Germain again won the Ligue One, they fell short in UEFA Champions League against Manchester United.

Paris Saint Germain are reportedly planning to sign a few top players to bolster their squad. PSG, who again retained the Ligue One, could not dominate the UEFA Champions League, where they were eliminated by Ole Gunnar’s Manchester United.

The French giants are already linked with a move for Ander Herrera, who will leave Manchester United on a free transfer. Now, according to French publication Le Parisien, they are plotting a move for Liverpool’s experienced midfielder James Milner.

Despite being 33, Milner has had an incredible season, helping Liverpool in their run. Milner could add Champions League to the list of trophies he won if Liverpool gets the better of Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Although Milner’s current contract with Liverpool expires only in June 2020, there still remains a cloud of uncertainty over his future. Since joining Liverpool from Manchester City in 2015, Milner has played more than 150 games for the Reds.

Milner has featured in 44 games for Liverpool this season. He has been of great use of Klopp, who used him in a multitude of role during this season. The versatile midfielder, who even at times plays in defensive roles, has scored seven goals this season.

However, it is expected that the midfielder will take a decision regarding his future only after the UEFA Champions League final.

Liverpool will be hoping they end their spectacular season on a high note by winning the Champions League. They were unfortunate in the Premier League as they, despite having their best season, finished behind Manchester City.

If he joins Paris Saint Germain, it will indeed be a boost for the team. His versatility and experience will surely come to their help if he decides to join the French giants.

Author’s Take

It looks like Paris Saint Germain need more experienced and quality players to win the Champions League. They are blessed with a star-studded squad but still fell short in Champions League multiple times. They are slated to make shrewd recruitments and signing James Milner will definitely be of use for the defending Ligue One champions.
