The Los Blancos are hell-bent on signing the Brazilian superstar and with Julen Lopetegui’s job in serious danger, PSG have targeted a Serie A superstar should Neymar leave for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian isn’t having the best time of late, with various rumours moving him all around the world but the latest one has him going back to Barcelona. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move back to the Camp Nou and even Real Madrid, but while both Barcelona and PSG have so far refused any option at a move back, the rumours persist.

The Brazilian made last season’s summer transfer window his own personal soap opera, which dragged on for what seemed like weeks before he finally handed over a check for €222 million to Barcelona, despite reports of the La Liga ready to block the move. But everything went through and Neymar became the most expensive player in football history, annihilating the comparatively paltry sum of 90 million that Manchester United shelled out for Paul Pogba.
And with Real Madrid looking for a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement, especially after the Portuguese giant left over the summer for Juventus. But no move has ever materialized with the Brazilian insisting over the summer that he won’t move, and so has the PSG president. However, amid serious rumours of a potential move back to Spain, PSG have started to shortlist replacements for their superstar.
The likes of Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Insigne, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford among others but it looks like the Napoli star is at the top of the list according to French outlet Le10 Sport. Insigne has been in terrific form for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, scoring 8 goals in 12 appearances including 2 in his three Champions League appearances.
However, while selling Neymar would give the Ligue 1 giants somewhere around 200 odd million, Insigne, as it has been revealed, would cost somewhere around 90 million according to reports. While Napoli would be unwilling to sell the 27-year-old, it would take a significant bid for PSG to convince Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to let him go.

Author’s take:

Lorenzo Insigne is a brilliant forward and crucial to Napoli and Carlo Ancelotti plans for the near future, with the Partenopei aiming to win the Scudetto. However, if PSG make a good enough offer, there are other options that Napoli could turn towards in the winter transfer window.
