West Indies international Chris Gayle is the most sought-after player in the cricket world. He is a perfect T20 material and is known for his attacking style of play. The left-handed batsman puts early pressure on the opposition by hitting sixes and fours with relative ease.
The Universe Boss has time and again proved that age is just a number in the game of cricket. He may be 41 years old but still reckons he has plenty of cricket left in him. West Indies opener made himself clear that he will feature in the next two World Cup tournaments.
Gayle was last seen playing competitive cricket for Kings XI Punjab in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League at the United Arab Emirates. The left-handed batsman didn’t play the first half of the group stage fixtures.
However, the West Indies international returned to the playing XI in the second half and stunned everyone with superb performances. Having played 7 games, the batsman chipped in with 288 runs.
He is the only batsman in the history of IPL to score 99 twice. Gayle registered his best score of 99 against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020. He maintained an impressive batting average of 41.14.
Gayle also maintained a terrific strike rate of 137.14 where he slammed as many as 3 fifties to his name. The powerful man hit 23 powerful sixes and 15 fours in the recently-concluded edition.
Quetta Gladiators rope in Gayle
In the latest development, Quetta Gladiators have recruited the services of Chris Gayle in the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League. The sixth edition of the PSL will go all guns blazing from February onwards.
Gayle who had an impressive stint at Kings XI Punjab in the last season of the IPL will be looking forward to a fresh challenge ahead. The West Indies opener is geared up to team up with Tom Banton for Gladiators and the franchise made smart buys in the PSL 2021 draft.
The 2019 PSL champions have purchased South African fast bowler Dale Steyn for the upcoming season. Steyn who pulled out of the previous edition of the IPL will now be looking forward to playing the upcoming season.
