Pundits decode causes of Chelsea’s poor show, fingers pointed at this man

ESPN FC pundit not satisfied with some of the tactics of players and management of Chelsea
With chances of qualifying in the top 4 of Premier league table almost gone, fingers have been pointed on the poor performance of Chelsea this season.ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno hasn’t been impressed with Alvaro Morata’s debut season at Chelsea FC.
According to a recent report Alejandro Moreno has said that Antonio Conte must accept some responsibility for Alvaro Morata’s poor form at Chelsea FC.

This claim seems logical as the Spanish forward hasn’t been in the best of touches this season with a lot of unforced errors derailing his natural ability to manoeuvre the ball in the field. With a mere 10 goals in his debut season, with his contemporary Mohamed Salah on song, it has to be said that Chelsea haven’t utilised the £58m they paid to get him from Real Madrid.

Alvaro Morata
Morata has scored only 10 times for Chelsea in premier league and once in the Champions league

The blues had interest in Romelu Lukaku as well who opted for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.Morata started very strongly following a return of nine goal in his opening eight games but the Spanish forward’s form has faded over the past few months. A 13 game drought for a player of his stature is worth questioning.

So the believes of Alejandro Moreno on the underwhelming performance of the Chelsea forward puts Antonio Conte’s credibility in spotlight. Here’s what he has to say “I have to say I was wrong on Morata. I thought he would be better than he has been. Conte hasn’t exactly done him any favours. But Morata himself his performances individually have not been good.”

With this season almost gone, the blues only have some hope in the FA Cup where they have to take on Southampton in the semis. If Morata fails to perform there as well, it would pile the misery on both Morata and Conte.

Author’s Take :

To be honest Alvaro Morata is going through a horrible patch and it aches to see a star failing to perform. He has been a great player over time and the one player who has evolved very swiftly. It’s an exigency for Conte to work on this and if he is able to do it in the FA Cup, the blames will evaporate.
