Claudio Ranieri led Leicester City to their maiden English Premier League, and the very next season he has been sacked. His sacking came as a shock to everyone. Players and supporters all around the world, could not believe themselves. The Italian fulfilled the dream of the Foxes, leading them to victory last season, despite the 5000-1 odds. Every team cannot win the league title every year. After the 2008-09 season, no team has won the English Premier League title for consecutive years. Manchester United were the last team, winning in 2006-07, 07-08 and 08-9 seasons.
After the poor performance in the last season, English giants Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and even Manchester City had decided to have a change of their managers. These teams made changes to their team compositions as well. But of course, these clubs have been playing the top flight for the longest time. As a result, they have huge funds at their disposal. Unfortunately for Ranieri, it did not matter that he had made Leicester win their first ever Premier League title. All that mattered was that they defending Premier League Champions were one spot away from the relegation zone.
Despite everything, Ranieri had kind words for the team. He said, “Yesterday my dream died. After the euphoria of last season and being crowned Premier League champions, all I dreamt of was staying with Leicester City, the club I love, for always. Sadly this was not to be.” Kasper Schmeichel was the first person to come out and thank Ranieri. He said, “I would like to thank Claudio for everything he’s done for Leicester City Football Club, and for me personally. He deserves massive respect and huge credit for what he achieved here with us.

Even Manchester United boss gave respect to the Italian. Jose Mourinho sported a CR on his apparel, as he blamed the players for getting their manager sacked. Even Sky Sports Pundit, Paul Merson, took a dig at the Foxes saying that their “average” players “stuck the knife” into their manager. Former Leicester star and famous fan Gary Lineker went crazy after the announcement. He said,

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher was absolutely furious when he heard about Ranieri’s sacking. He even wrote a piece criticizing the Foxes. He thought it was an “Absolute Joke.”

Everyone around the world stood up for Claudio really. The man has won a billion hearts in one season, and seeing his dreams crushed has severely impacted everyone around the world.
