Ranji Trophy 2022: Minimum 9 Cricketers Required For Games To Continue

Ranji Trophy 2022: The coronavirus situation in India has disrupted the domestic cricket games over the past two years. As a result, it hampered the domestic players’ skills and customary training sessions.
However, the BCCI gave a green signal to host the Ranji Trophy after a gap of 2 years. Considering the ongoing covid-19 situation across India, we never know when the players would contract the virus infection.
However, if any player contracts the virus infection, they can be replaced by another player. The apex cricket body has made an allocation for like-for-like replacements for coronavirus-related problems.
Yes, you read it right. This can be done midway through the game in the Ranji Trophy. BCCI added that a replacement can be made by the domestic teams. This can be done if a player has mild symptoms.

A replacement can also be made if any of the cricketers tests positive for COVID-19. If that is the case, then the domestic teams can play without losing the players.
Since a replacement is possible mid-way through the match, the domestic cricket tournament will be conducted without any issue. Star Sports will showcase the live telecast of the Ranji Trophy fixtures.

Ranji Trophy 2022: Minimum 9 players requires for the games to proceed

Considering the ongoing situation in India, the BCCI came up with a list of important guidelines. BCCI made it clear that a minimum of nine players are required for the games to go as planned.
The rule is acceptable only after a match has begun and the team is worn out of like-for-like replacements. The BCCI is trying its maximum best to make sure that they organize the domestic cricket tournament properly.
The country’s premier first-class tournament will go all gun blazing from February 17. The BCCI released a circular ahead of the start of the domestic competition on Tuesday. “Due to COVID outbreak within a team after the start of the match, if the team has a minimum of nine players available to take the field (after utilising all the replacements), then the match will continue,” the board stated.
Earlier, BCCI mentioned that a replacement can be made if a cricketer contracts the virus infection or when he experiences mild symptoms. A player may be prevented from taking part in the game due to covid-19 health guidance. Teams don’t have to worry about the players’ absence.
It is when an appropriate replacement can be made. A replacement is possible even during the course of the game. On the other hand, if a team is not able to field even a minimum of 9 cricketers after the game has begun, the BCCI has laid a set of factors to determine the game’s result.
“In the league stage, points will be awarded to the teams based on the points table. During knockout games, qualification for the next round will be determined by a higher run quotient or spin of the coin.” the circular added.
