Ranji Trophy 2022: Young batsman Sarfaraz Khan hogged the limelight after he scored his fourth century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament. The Mumbai batter brought the best out of himself in the ongoing final.
Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh are locking horns with each other in the final. Both domestic teams played a fearless brand of cricket throughout the tournament as they beat teams with ease.
Mumbai have won the trophy a record 41 times. In fact, they are playing against Madhya Pradesh in the first final since 1998-99. Madhya Pradesh qualified for the first Ranji Trophy final since 1998-99.
MP clinched their group without losing a match. They went on to defeat the likes of Punjab and Bengal in the quarter-finals and semi-finals to book their berth in the final.
On the other side of the coin, Mumbai topped their group with 2 wins and a draw. They beat Uttarakhand by a huge margin of 725 runs in the quarter-finals to make it to the semis.
They got the better of Uttar Pradesh and advanced to the final. Case in point, Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and opt to bat first at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Ranji Trophy 2022: Sarfaraz Khan gets emotional after scoring a century
During the crucial final, Sarfaraz Khan was the pick of the batsmen for Mumbai cricket team. He top-scored with 134 runs and decorated his innings with the help of 13 boundaries and two hits over the fence.
The right-handed batsman continued his dream run with the bat in this season and scored a remarkable century. The youngster looked emotional after his century and his celebration video has gone viral on social media.

Sarfaraz Khan has been in imperious form this season as he scored big and vital knocks for Mumbai. He scored 275 runs against Saurashtra before smashing 165 against Odisha. The right-handed batter scored 153 against Uttarakhand before chipping in with another century in the finals.
Apart from that, he took his run tally in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season beyond 900 runs. Notably, he has improved his previous achievement of 928 runs from the 2019-20 season. Talking about the game, Mumbai posted 374 at the expense of all the ten wickets.
Apart from Sarfaraz Khan, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal also played quite well. He scored 78 runs with the help of seven boundaries and a six to his name. Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw missed out on scoring a half-century by 3 runs.
In reply, Madhya Pradesh got off to a steady start in the form of Himanshu Mantri and Yash Dubey who added 47 runs for the first wicket. Tushar Deshpande trapped Himanshu for an LBW on 31 runs. MP have gone past the 70-run mark.
