The BCCI announced the restart of the Ranji Trophy this season. It will be held after a gap of 2 years. Meanwhile, the apex cricket body also came up with an important update. This update was with regards to the Ranji Trophy recently.
The BCCI has made an allocation for like-for-like replacements for coronavirus-related issues. This was done midway through the game in the Ranji Trophy. The tournament will kick off tomorrow.

The apex cricket body said that a replacement can be made by teams. This will happen in case a player experiences mild symptoms. A replacement can also be made if a player tests positive for the coronavirus.
As a result, teams can play games without actually losing their strength. Since a replacement can be made, they will be able to play all games in the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament.

According to a report from TOI, the BCCI mentioned that a replacement can be made in the following circumstances. If a cricketer contracts the virus infection or when he shows some symptoms.
A player may be barred from taking part in the game. This will be due to covid-10 health guidance. In this case, teams need not have to worry about the players’ absence. It is due to the fact that an appropriate replacement can be made. A replacement is possible even during the course of the game.
“If during the course of the relevant match, a player tests positive for COVID-19, a COVID-19 replacement may be permitted in the following circumstances. This will also happen if a player displays covid symptoms. It is then a player will be prevented from participating as a result of applicable COVID-19 health guidance.”
The replacement will be sanctioned by the BCCI match referee. Furthermore, replaced cricketer shall not feature in the game. “The COVID-19 replacement will be approved by the BCCI match referee. Moreover, the replaced player shall not take further part in the match.”
“Both the Covid-19 replacement and the replaced player shall be considered to have played in the match for records and statistical purposes,” the BCCI added in a statement, as per TOI. Fans can witness the domestic spectacle on Star Sports.
Star Sports will showcase the live telecast of the Ranji Trophy fixtures. The first game is between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. It will kick off at Rajkot, Gujrat. The game will begin on Wednesday.
