Ranji Trophy 2022: Mumbai are locking horns with Madhya Pradesh in the all-important Ranji Trophy final at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both teams have been terrific this season.
The fact that these two teams made it to the final goes to show how they have braved the odds in their journey to make it this far. Both teams largely benefitted from the cumulative efforts of the players in the tournament.
It is worth mentioning here that Mumbai cricket team have won the trophy a record 41 times. Now, they are playing against Madhya Pradesh in the first final since 1998-99.
Talking about MP’s journey, they won their group without losing a game, which is quite a terrific achievement. MP got the better of Punjab and Bengal in the quarter-finals and semi-finals to make it to the final.
On the other hand, Mumbai also played quality cricketer and topped their group with 2 wins and a draw. They defeated Uttarakhand by a big margin of 725 runs in the quarter-finals to make it to the semifinals.
After that, they beat Uttar Pradesh and made it to the final. Talking about the final, Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and chose to open the face of the blade first.

The Ranji Trophy final has made the headlines for all the interesting moments that happened during the passage of the play. On Day 2, Sarfaraz Ahmed hogged the limelight after he scored a century.
The emotional cricketer broke down after scoring his fourth century this season. His celebration video also went viral all over the social media portals. Meanwhile, MP cricketer Yash Dubey stole the spotlight by emulating KL Rahul’s celebration.

Batting first, Mumbai posted 374 runs on the board with the help of Sarfaraz Khan’s 134 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 78. On the other hand, Gaurav Yadav took 4 wickets to his name for MP.
In reply, Madhya Pradesh responded sensationally well. At the time of writing this article, MP scored 337/2 in 109 overs. Shubham Sharma scored 116 runs with the help of 15 boundaries and a six.
Yash Dubey is batting on 129 with the help of 13 boundaries. Rajat Patidar is also batting really well as he chipped in with an unbeaten 52 including 10 boundaries.
At the moment, Madhya Pradesh look so comfortable and have the upper hand over Mumbai in the first innings. They still trail by 37 runs but have plenty of wickets in hand to take a huge lead.
