Ravi Shastri explains why Suryakumar Yadav was snubbed for the Australia tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced Team India squads for the Australia tour last week. Suryakumar Yadav name was missing in all of the Team India squads for the upcoming tour of Australia.

The flamboyant right-handed batsman showcased his mettle in the domestic circuit with consistent performances. Even in the ongoing IPL, Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the top-scorers for Mumbai Indians.

The 30-year-old batsman has been playing really well for three IPL seasons. He scored 374 runs from 13 games at a remarkable average of 41.55 in the ongoing season of the IPL. He hit three half-centuries to his name.

But still, the Indian selectors ignored Suryakumar Yadav for the Australia tour. Suryakumar Yadav came up with an emotional speech. “I should enjoy my cricket more, keep scoring runs, keep winning games. That will help me more to push the door and play for India,” he added.

Ravi Shastri on Suryakumar Yadav

Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri explained the reason why Suryakumar Yadav was once again snubbed by the selectors. The Indian national cricket team boasts quite a lot of quality players in their ranks. It is very tough to earn a place in the starting XI.

Even good players are not getting enough chances as they are forced to warm up the bench more often than not. Ravi Shastri added that the current Indian cricket team already consists of talented cricketers.

With the Indian team already comprises enough talented players in its arsenal, there is absolutely no space for Suryakumar Yadav to enter. “That’s why we say to these youngsters – be patient.

Like Suryakumar there are 3-4 other players on the fringe but when you have a team that is packed with talent and experience it becomes very difficult to get in,” Ravi Shastri told Times Now.

What’s next for Mumbai Indians?

Kieron Pollard led Mumbai Indians in Rohit Sharma’s absence and defeated Delhi Capitals in their most recent encounter. The defending champions are the first team to cement their spot in the IPL playoffs this season.

Mumbai Indians are on top of the points table with as many as 18 points. They won as many as 9 games and lost 4 games. The defending champions have a fantastic Net Run Rate of +1.296 in the ongoing season of the IPL.

They have one more match in the league stage. The defending champions will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad tomorrow on November 3. Earlier, a source close to Rohit Sharma said that the MI captain will be back on the pitch against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
