With Real Madrid continuing to look for potential replacements for Karim Benzema, the Los Blancos have turned their eyes towards a young Premier League hotshot.
The starlet has struggled since his breakout season for the Manchester giants but this season has seen the youngster struggle with both form and injury issues. Also with Manchester United bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season and Romelu Lukaku, along with Alexis Sanchez in this season, competition has gone up. This has seen Marcus Rashford thinking about a possible move away and with Real Madrid looking for reinforcements and replacements, the 20-year-old has made the shortlist.
However, according to reports from Spanish news outlet Sport [via the Daily Mail], the 20-year-old has emerged as another target for Florentino Perez, as both he and Zinedine Zidane look to re-do their squad for next season. With Real Madrid sitting 15 points off leaders Barcelona, with the Los Blancos far from posing any serious threat to the title race since the start of the season, things need to change next season and Perez has realized that.
Not only have Real Madrid struggled this season, they have also had to watch as their infamous trio of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale fade away, goalless and with serious fitness issues. But while Ronaldo has flourished in 2018, scoring 21 goals since the turn of the year Madrid still need to bring in reinforcements.
Which is why they have targetted the likes of Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Dele Ali, Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard and of course now Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and David De Gea.
The young Englishman would be a great capture and given his obvious admiration for Ronaldo, maybe the Portuguese star can become a mentor. In an interview back in 2017, Rashford went on to say “I used to watch a lot of him[Ronaldo] growing up, all of his games. He was obviously a top player who won a lot of things in his career, so when you know he’s saying good things about you then it really stands out.”

However, Rashford is not the only Manchester United star that has been linked with a potential move away to Real Madrid, with the Los Blancos rumored to be after David De Gea, Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and even Alexis Sanchez at one point of time. But despite that, Jose Mourinho may not let some of his best players go, let alone his top stars to his former club.
Author’s take:
A 2017 Golden Boy nominee, the 20-year-old is easily one of the most exciting young stars in World football and even in the Premier League, with many touting him to be a potential Ballon d’Or winner someday. However, while a move to Real Madrid would do Rashford’s career a world of good, the starlet is still only 20 and should spend a few more years at Old Trafford before venturing towards a big money move.
