According to the latest reports, Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos has claimed that any football club in the world would like to have Jose Mourinho as their manager despite the Portuguese man being sacked from Manchester United just a few days ago.
After the 3-1 loss to Liverpool last Sunday, Manchester United decided to part ways with Jose Mourinho on Tuesday.
The ‘Special One’ endured a torrid start to the new season and suffered a poor run of results which forced the Manchester United board to sack Mourinho. But it appears that there is no shortage of takers for the 55-year-old.
Mourinho was the manager of Real Madrid from 2010 till 2013 and won the Copa Del Rey and La Liga title with the Los Blancos. And Spanish center back Sergio Ramos hasn’t ruled out a return for Jose Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The La Liga giants sacked Julen Lopetegui earlier in the season and Santiago Solari took charge of the club but Ramos ignited a fire by stating that any club would want Mourinho as their manager.
While speaking to news outlet Sportsmole, the 32-year-old Ramos stated that everyone would want Mourinho despite the ‘Special One’ leaving the Spanish capital five seasons ago.
“We have had five years since Mourinho [left] and we are still talking about Mourinho. Why? He is a coach of the highest level so everyone would want him. Real Madrid has won everything so we have to have respect for the coach that we have now.
We don’t have Mourinho, we have Solari. We’re going to see if we can win this title and maybe after that, we will talk about Mourinho. I don’t want to be part of this [rumors] game.”
Author’s take-
I feel that Mourinho would do extremely well at Real Madrid as he has coached them before and with the proper funds, he could strengthen their spine. But it seems unlikely that Madrid would hire Mourinho so soon after his sack from Manchester United.
