According to the latest reports, the Los Blancos are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Kieran Trippier this summer transfer window.
After selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus last week in a deal worth €105 million there will be a massive void at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Portuguese winger left Real Madrid and the European champions know that they need to bring in some high-quality players in the club to bolster their squad for next season. And it’s normally after the FIFA World Cup summer transfer window when Real Madrid makes sure their major business is done.
One player that caught the eye at the grand tournament was England’s right-back Kieran Trippier. The English international was one of the most impressive players for the Three Lions and scored a brilliant free-kick against Croatia although could not help his side through to the finals. Although his club teammate Harry Kane gets all the plaudits for scoring the goals, Madrid is still interested in the 27-year-old Trippier.
According to a few English reports, Real Madrid has identified Kieran Trippier as one of their main summer transfer targets. Trippier was also one of the most consistent performers for Tottenham as he helped them finish a 3rd place finish in the Premier League. He slotted in admirably as Kyle Walker’s replacement last season and has shown his potential.
Trippier was used as a wing back and was sound defensively and in the attacking third producing quality on either end of the pitch. Real Madrid is thinking of making a bid for the English international but Tottenham will sell him for nothing less than £50 million.
No player can really replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Spanish capital but Trippier would be a sensible option as he does the dirty work and can produce some real quality on the wing. But I doubt that Real Madrid would seriously consider bidding for Trippier.
