While Chelsea has been a dominant figure in signing new recruits. Real Madrid has not made a single signing so far. But the Spanish champions seem to be eyeing a Chelsea midfielder lately. El Gol Digital reports that Zinedine Zidane has approved Real to approach Chelsea to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Frenchman was away on loan at AS Monaco last season. He made a return to Stamford Bridge hoping to gain a place in Lampard’s lineup. But with Chelsea having a great summer transfer. A lot of fresh faces have made the cut to first-team hard. Also, Bakayoko is not a favorite of gaffer Frank Lampard. Hence, Chelsea has been keen to ship him off to regain some funds after an expensive summer buyout.
AC Milan was in initial contact with Chelsea over the signing of Bakayoko. Having spent a loan spell at Milan before, they were hoping to sign him to remedy their midfield issues. But Chelsea’s asking price has made the process slow and reports claim Milan are eye other less expensive stars.
Besides Milan, Real Madrid also seems keen to sign him. Real Madrid are looking forward to placing £30m on the France international. El Gol Digital claims that Los Blancos will make contact with Blues in the coming days.
Chelsea will be happy to consider any genuine interest. But will also demand a sum they value the player at. If the Blues meet terms with Los Blancos Bakayoko may fly to Spain before the window closes.
Madrid need depth in their midfield
Zinedine Zidane feels the need for more depth in their midfield. Though they have a perfect starting lineup that wins the league for him. Zidane understands he will need players to run the rotation. The gaffer is keen to bring in an anchorman to cover Casemiro. Real did eye N’golo Kante initially, but Chelsea demand £60m plus for the ace.
Hence, Madrid is opting to make a move for Tiemoue Bakayoko. The midfielder though not in favor at Chelsea is a dependable midfielder. Bakayoko was a dominant figure at Monaco’s centre of the park. The Frenchman made key interceptions and tackles to keep possession. He also had a goal and made two assists during his time at League 1.
Real Madrid needs such an ace in the midfield as well. The Spanish giants have Casemiro to dominate their midfield but they need a rotation player too. Bakayoko will be the ideal candidate to be the next option for Casemiro. Zidane is also considering making his midfield tighter. The addition of Bakayoko will see to it as well.
Though Frank Lampard is not too confident of the Frenchman. Zidane seems to have faith in the 26-year-old. Bakayoko was able to stand in for Pogba in the France national squad. To have a player like that in Madrid is key and Zidane knows it. The gaffer hopes to mold the player to utilize his maximum. A deal can fall into place if they pursue it right.
Real have made no signings yet
The Spanish giants have not made any fresh signings so far. They did eye several stars a while back. But club president Florentino Perez did hint that Real will not make any big signings this summer. Hence, we have not seen any new arrivals to Santiago Bernabeu.
But Madrid was able to ship two of their stars lately. Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon left Spain to join Tottenham Hotspur. While Bale joins his boyhood club on a loan spell. Reguilon made a five-year contract with Spurs for a £27m transfer fee. The duo are likely to complete medicals in the following days.
The funds from the transfer will ease the financial issues for Madrid. This may see them sign a player before the window closes. £27m for Reguilon and 50% of Bale’s wage slash away. Madrid can look to bring in fresh boots, and Bakayoko may be the man that comes first.
