Real Madrid begins talks with Manchester City over the signing of their highly-rated winger next summer.
According to The Athletic, Real Madrid met Sterling’s representatives in the summer for a potential future deal.
The Jamaican-born winger has been a vital player for Manchester City after being signed in July 2015, when he was just 20-years-old from Liverpool for around £49m.
There were lots of talks for being overspent on the winger as he found the net only 13 times in his 64 appearances for the Blues. This has been the case for Sterling in his first two seasons for City. But, it was not the same after Pep took over City and Sterling has improved immensely.
Sterling has been performing well for City under Pep and has netted 48 goals in his previous two campaigns. No wonder, why Real Madrid are behind £100-rated winger.
According to The Athletic, Los Blancos will be forced to make a move for the English International after their poor start to their season in La Liga winning only three games out of their five games.
However, Manchester City is eyeing for their hat-trick Premier League title and the missing Champions League title as well in which Sterling will play a crucial part. Sterling might not leave City until his manager Pep leaves Etihad.
However, it is being learned that Manchester City are preparing a new deal for Raheem Sterling to make him stay in the Etihad and they’re confident that he’ll stay. Real Madrid had a poor start to their UEFA Champions League campaign as well with 3-0 defeat over PSG in an away game. Considering all these into the picture, Los Blancos might be forced to go for the winger next summer.
Considering the development, it is best for the 24-year-old English International to stay in City and work with Pep Guardiola. We might soon see a tug-of-war between Real Madrid and Manchester City over Sterling at some point of time in coming years.
