Real Madrid will sack Julen Lopetegui with it being imminent by every match and only a matter of time until the 52 year old is asked to leave. The Whites have already contacted his successor.
Real Madrid are on a run of five winless runs across all competitions. The defending European champions have lost four matches in the process, whilst their last three have been defeats on the same streak. In the same wavelength, Real Madrid have also set a club record run of not scoring in 481 footballing minutes. That was broken by Marcelo’s goal against Levante in Madrid’s 2-1 defeat.
Julen Lopetegui’s future has come under scrutiny and his sacking is inevitable. Some sources are even claiming that he could not manage the El Clasico on Sunday at the Camp Nou and get sacked on Wednesday morning itself irrespective of Real Madrid’s result against Viktoria Plzen in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday evening.
In order to replace the former Spain coach, Florentino Perez has drawn a five man shortlist that is spearheaded by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc is another contender to claim the hot seat while Belgium manager Roberto Martinez is a surprise alongside Michael Laudrup. Real Madrid’s former player and current Castilla manager Santiago Solari is also a candidate.
Real Madrid should sack Lopetegui at the earliest and replace him with somebody experienced like Conte or Martinez. While Blanc is a good option too, he has been out of football for over two years meaning he may have lost the touch while Laudrup and Solari don’t have enough experience.
Antonio Conte would be the perfect manager. His flamboyant style of attacking football is exactly what Real Madrid need. He did really well with Chelsea and dominated the Premier League in his first season evidencing that he’s a world class coach. Additionally, him coming to Madrid might lure Eden Hazard to Spain as well.
