Los Blancos are watching Arsenal’s academy player Reiss Nelson and might try to steal the player from under Wenger’s nose.
Arsene Wenger is famous for two things, his Invincible title and the Frenchman’s faith in the youngsters. But with the manager failing to prove himself in last few seasons, Wenger has shifted to the safer ways by playing with experienced players. The change in Arsenal’s philosophy has cost them a number of youngsters and another one might be in the line to leave the club.
From a Gunner to a Madridista?
Reiss Nelson, Arsenal’s 18-year old winger has struggled to earn playing time at the club and other European clubs are keeping an eye on him. According to the reports in London Evening Standard, European Champions Real Madrid are hugely impressed with the player and will look to steal him at a bargain price.
French club Monaco is also in the race for Nelson who has just 15 months left on his current contract. Nelson impressed everyone at the club with his performances in pre-season friendlies. The player was also a late substitution in Arsenal’s Community Shield victory against Chelsea.
But the Englishman has since been pushed down the pecking order, with Wenger using his full strength squad to salvage something from the remainder of 2017-18 season. The 18-year old has the speed and dribbling skills to beat any defender on the wings. The player is also known for his dead-ball heroics with the experience of scoring free-kicks in his academy days.

Reiss Nelson’s transfer will be a huge blow for the Gunners as they have recently lost few other youngsters in the similar fashion. Marcus McGuane recently made his debut for Barcelona after moving to Spain from London last summer. The Gunners will be back in action on Thursday when they take on AC Milan. Wenger’s men are 2 goals ahead on aggregate in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Reiss Nelson is a talented youngster and has everything it takes to become a superstar on the bigger stage. Just 18 right now, Nelson can become a fine product with few finishing touches. It is unfortunate to see Wenger’s hands tied down due to a lackluster season where he cannot take risks with the squad right now. Arsenal’s loss can very well become Real Madrid’s gain very soon.
