In a stunning development, the capital club are apparently looking to bring together Chelsea star Eden Hazard and Los Blancos outcast James Rodriguez
Colombian star Rodriguez is currently on loan in the Bundesliga, Real’s head honchos put him out of his Spanish misery by offloading him in 2017 to Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal. He had fallen down the pecking order during Zinedine Zidane’s tenure, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Isco, Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio regularly selected ahead of him.
However, Rodriguez has been a revelation in Germany, helping Bayern continue their dominance of the German top tier till last term. This season, however, he’s struggled. The on-loan Real Madrid star has netted three times from eight league matches, but enjoys a strained relationship with new coach Niko Kovac.
This is in stark contrast to last season, when the 2014 World Cup’s top-scorer was often indulged by Jupp Heynckes, who took over from Carlo Ancelotti. But Kovac’s tougher, old-fashioned methods have brought problems within the Bayern Munich camp. Now, Spanish website Ok Diario claims that Real are looking to recall Rodriguez in January — with the aim of putting him in the first team with Hazard.
Real Madrid are currently manageress, but Santiago Solari is the bookies’ hot favourite to seal the top job permanently. The managerial limbo, though, hasn’t derailed the focus of Real bigwigs. Ok Diario adds that club president Florentino Perez remains determined to sign Hazard. The Chelsea ace remains a long-term prospect for the club, despite their failure to sign him in the summer.
Blues legend Dennis Wise thinks a departure for Hazard is inevitable. “He’s obviously an ambitious guy and if he wants to be a top top world-class player then he probably needs to go on and win lots of different things,” Wise told Express Sport. “You’ve got Barcelona and Real Madrid – those are where top players want to end up.
“But at the moment it’s important that we’ve still got him at Chelsea and I think he loves the place. I’m sure in time he’ll make his decision about what’s best for him.

“At the end of the day, he’s a world-class player and has made such a difference at the start of this season. Do you want to lose him? Of course you don’t. He’s irreplaceable, if I’m being honest. One day, unfortunately, when he wants to go he will. Hopefully we get a couple more seasons out of him — at least.”
It only looks a matter of time before Real Madrid make their managerial announcement, and surely, Perez will be looking to get back some goodwill from the fans and players by bringing together two supremely talented players like hazard and Rodriguez together and perhaps ushering in another Galacticos era.
