Real Madrid: Marcelo slams Lovren in Sergio Ramos’ rescue

There have been endless exchanges of words between Sergio Ramos and Dejan Lovren. The Real Madrid defender has several people supporting his maturity and Marcelo has been the most recent one.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is in the news with Liverpool and Croatia central defender Dejan Lovren after exchanging jibes with him. The two defenders started taking aim at each other after the Liverpool man lashed out at Sergio Ramos for apparently injuring his Liverpool teammate and close friend Mohamed Salah in the UEFA Champions League Final earlier this year in Kiev, Ukraine.

Many players and coaches have spoken about the two players’ heated exchange of late and have either been critical or supportive of either of the two. The latest third person to get himself involved has been Marcelo. If there is any teammate who knows Ramos the best, it is Marcelo thanks to the time of over a decade that they have spent together at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Marcelo insisted: Sergio Ramos talks a lot with me and since I arrived he has helped me a lot. I appreciate all the advice he has given me. Every day I wake up with great joy because everyone would like to be in my place, playing in the best club in the world, and I have this privilege. Just wearing this shirt maintains my ambition.”

Author’s Take

Ramos is the latest of many persons who have come to the rescue of Sergio Ramos. In all honesty, it feels like Dejan Lovren is nowhere close to the Real Madrid captain in terms of achievements in his career. Probably, the defender’s only thing to be proud of is the World Cup silver medal from this year, but otherwise, Ramos has been miles ahead of him.

It is good that Sergio Ramos is behaving gentlemanly and not giving two hoots to the Liverpool centre back.
