Real Madrid News: It’s not even a week after their humiliation in the El Clasico, Real Madrid is looking to get rid of the unwanted players. According to the latest report coming out of Spain, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard are among the eight players set to leave this summer.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team is still in first place in La Liga and is on track to recapture the title they lost to Atletico Madrid by two points last season. They’ve also advanced to the final eight of the Champions League, where they’ll face Chelsea.
A Clasico defeat, on the other hand, rarely goes unnoticed, especially when it’s by four goals in front of your own fans. The injury to Benzema showed everyone how vital he is for the club. Since the loss, almost one-third of Los Blancos’ present team’s future is up in the air.
The eight departing players cost Real Madrid more than £200 million when they arrived at the Bernabeu. According to AS, three of the leaving players has their contract up. On the other hand, five players are barely used by the manager.
Real Madrid News: What does the report say?
Bale’s appearance on the way out is unsurprising. In recent years, the Welshman’s playing time has decreased considerably. He has been a target of the Spanish press as well as the Real Madrid fans. Everyone seems to have forgotten his contributions to the club.
Marcelo, the club captain, is reportedly on his way out after more than a decade in the Spanish city. He will be joined by Isco, who is on his way out as well. Luka Modric, the fourth player whose contract expires in June, is expected to extend his stay for another year.
“Bale is an option to Benzema, as are Mariano, Jovic, Isco, and Rodrygo,” Ancelotti stated after learning Benzema will miss the Clasico. While Bale’s absence was due to injury, the fact that Mariano and Jovic did not start the game is instructive.
The scenario with Mariano and Jovic is stated in the AS report as “the two forwards do not count for Ancelotti.” Los Blancos want to sell Jovic, a player who cost them more than £50 million in 2019.
Dani Ceballos, a former Arsenal loanee, is one player who has previously spent time in England, and he is likewise deemed surplus to needs. The former Real Betis man’s two spells in north London weren’t enough to earn him a permanent move.
Ceballos was out for the first few months of the season due to injury, but he has yet to start a game since his comeback in January. Jesus Vallejo is facing the same scenario as Ceballos.
Hazard, the worst signing in the history of the club.
Hazard was a Galactico signing but he never hit the ground running. The Belgian winger arrived at the Bernabeu in 2019 from Chelsea. However, injuries and fitness concerns have limited the Belgian to fewer than 30 league starts in over three seasons. To make matters worse, in a fan survey, he is voted as Real Madrid’s worst ever signing.
Hazard will not be worth anywhere like the £89 million Madrid paid for him after winning the Europa League. However, after a dreadful few years, they appear to have decided it’s time to call it quits.
