Real Madrid News: Vinicius Junior receives Spanish Passport

Real Madrid News: Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior has finally received his Spanish citizenship which comes as a major boost for the defending La Liga champions.

The 22-year-old Brazilian international came into the spotlight when Los Blancos spent €40.5m to add him to their squad.

After his big money move to Madrid, Vinicius took some time to settle down. Under Zinedine Zidane, the winger started to feature regularly and delivered decent performances. Still, the winger was often getting criticised for his lack of end product. However, since the arrival of Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti, Vinicius has totally looked like a different player.

The Brazilian winger improved his finishing astronomically and became the second most important forward for the Los Blancos after their captain Karim Benzema. He even scored the winner in the Champions League final. Vinicius netted 22 goals and provided 20 assists in 52 appearances last season while helping Madrid do a La Liga and Champions League double.

La Liga giants Real Madrid received a great transfer boost as their Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior has acquired Spanish citizenship.

While confirming the same, Los Blancos announced that “Our Brazilian player Vinicius Junior swore an oath of allegiance to the Spanish Constitution on Friday 2 September, thereby Acquiring Spanish nationality from that moment.”

Notably, La Liga allows every club to register five players who are not citizens of Europe but the clubs can only name three players in the matchday squad.

Earlier Real used to use these slots for the Brazilian trio of Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao and Rodrygo Goes.

Now, this will serve as a huge boost for the defending La Liga champions as from now on Vinicius will not be counted as a non-EU player.

Earlier the Spanish giants failed to complete the transfer of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus due to the same rule. Jesus later joined Arsenal and is in superb form.
