While speaking at the 28th General Assembly of the European Club Association, The PSG president criticised Real Madrid’s winning the Champions League.

Despite the threat of sanctions from UEFA, Madrid, along with Barca and Juve have still kept the European Super League dreams alive. Even though, nine of the original 12 founding clubs left the project in October 2021 after facing heavy protests from the fans.

Al-Khelaifi told: “It’s strange that Real Madrid is celebrating winning the Champions League. It’s very strange that you go against the competition, but participate and celebrate having won the title. I think it’s very weird, to be honest. But we are not going to waste time on this and we are going to continue to work.”

After several days, the Real Madrid president didn’t hesitate to reply to all those cruel words. He talked about UEFA’s approach and the Super League.

He told: “The Super League format cannot wind up the discussion, European justice already questions UEFA’s monopoly on football. The Super League would not be a closed competition, as it would have 25 percent of its places open”.

Then he heavily criticised the ECA president’s negative and insulting remark about the World’s most successful club Real Madrid, as he told: “Recently, the ECA president said that Real Madrid is afraid of ECA. Maybe we should remind the ECA president who Real Madrid are (applause). Competition is in our DNA and the club has a responsibility to protect the football as a whole and that means not accepting threats from wherever they come from.”

Perez also hailed his players who led Real to their 14th Champions League trophy last season. No football club on the planet is near to achieving this rare historic feat.

He gladly spoke: “Our players are already Real Madrid legends. There are five of them with five Champions League titles and five of them are in UEFA’s Champions League ideal XI. Five of them are also nominated for the Ballon d’Or.”

He showed optimism over the two new summer arrivals Aurelian Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger. In the end, he thanked his former players who left Los Blancos this summer.

He spoke: “I want to thank [Marcelo], He is the player with the most titles in the history of Real Madrid. He has been one of the best in our history with his magic and fantasy.”

The President also pointed out Casemiro, Bale, and Isco’s bright and greatest moments at the club and thanked them for their contribution.
