Real Madrid will be on the lookout for wingers this summer but one of their supposed primary targets has seemed to have made his decision already.
Sadio Mane continues to be linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid. He has been simply unstoppable at times for Liverpool this season. His goalscoring output has gone up year by year and so have his suitors. But the Senegalese forward has hinted that his future lies at Merseyside as he wants to be a “legend” at Anfield. This comes as a relief to all Liverpudlians as they would wish to see their forward line carry on entertaining for years to come.
“I am happy playing for Liverpool”
“Of course I want to be a legend not only for Liverpool but also in the Premier League story and that is one of my targets. I will do everything possible to achieve everything possible,” Mane told the official LFC Magazine. “Reaching 100 games means a lot to me. To play this many games for a club like Liverpool is incredible.”
“As I have always said, I am very happy to play for this club and every single day I am enjoying being here and trying to do everything to win something for this club.”
The Jurgen Klopp factor
One of the prime reasons for the Senegalese deciding to stay would be Jurgen Klopp. The former Dortmund manager has been a huge success among the fans and players alike. And Mane has also admitted that he would love to play for the German for years to come.
“To be honest, he is a great man, you can see it and he is a lovely person,” Mane continued.“He loves all his players and is very close to his players too. He also demands a lot but he never puts pressure on us other than asking the best of us.”
“He only asks you to do your best in whatever you are doing and also to enjoy it. I think that’s important because, under him, everybody has progressed a lot as everyone can see. It’s very important for us to work with him for more years.”
Sadio Mane is an under-rated footballer. The former Southampton man has been one of the most consistent performing Reds. Liverpool will do anything in their power to keep him at the club. But with the player himself coming out and clarifying his situation, the club might not need to do a lot to fend off the mighty Real Madrid.
