Bundesliga is considered a very fertile breeding ground for talented youngsters and it is unsurprising to see both Real Madrid and Barcelona looking to poach one them.
Spain has witnessed one of the greatest rivalries known to the sport. Two footballing behemoths have gone hell for leather in a bid to achieve success. Barcelona had the incredible Pep Guardiola-led side which, according to some, is one of the greatest teams. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have managed to lift the Champions League for an unprecedented third time in a row under the iconic Zinedine Zidane. Now, with both sides far off their peak, will clash to bring in the hottest property the Bundesliga has to offer.
Luka Jovic, the game’s future
It was reported that Luka Jovic, the Eintracht Frankfurt strike, had agreed personal terms with Barcelona. The Catalan club is yet to finalise a deal with the club. But the latest news coming out of Spain is not a good one for the Blaugrana. It is understood that Real Madrid have stepped in and have already submitted an offer to their German counterpart.
This is set to initiate negotiations between the two clubs. However, a deal is not likely to be struck anytime soon. This might take a while the player and the European Champions are yet to reach consensus over his contract.
Barcelona need to act quickly if they wish to sign the Serb. But as the club have already understood to have agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old, it might be easier for them to get the deal over the line. Barca must submit their first offer soo, and ensure that it is flexible in subsequent negotiations.
Jovic has been one of the sensations of the Bundesliga season. He has scored 14 this season (currently tops the Bundesliga scoring charts) and set-up a further 3. He is on loan from Benfica, where Eintract have the option to buy him for 12 million euros. A powerful penalty-box predator, the Serbian’s range of finishing is matched by his composure in front of goal.
The shot map is a clear indication of how good the youngster’s shot positions are. The fact that all his goals have come from inside the penalty area is also a testament to his ability to get on the end of high-quality chances. With both Suarez and Benzema on the wrong end of the age spectrum, Jovic would certainly be a quality addition to either side. And still 21, sky is the limit for the Serbian international.
