Tony Kroos reveals that he could have signed for Manchester United, Pogba’s transfer breakdown, Real Madrid eye on Neymar again.
Zinédine Zidane is back again at Real Madrid. He got appointed on March 11, 2019, and will be managing the team till June 2022. Zidane’s return has brought back a lot of hope in the club. Madrid had not been on point in the last 2018-2019 season as Barcelona defeated Madrid in the Semi-Final of Copa del Rey by the aggregate score of 4-1. They also lost the Round of 16 (Uefa Champions League) against Ajax with the aggregate score of 5-3. This year some changes could help Real Madrid to stabilize and even win some silverware.
Kroos could have played for United
Toni Kroos’ career could have easily taken a very different path if had he not joined Real Madrid in 2014. Kroos revealed that he had an agreement in place to move to Manchester United before completing his move to
Kroos left Bayern Munich after winning the World Cup with Germany in Brazil and he was on the verge of moving to Old Trafford, which has been a troubled place since then. When asked about it by GQ he said, “I knew that Manchester loved me and that Moyes supported the signing completely. We had a very pleasant afternoon. We spoke a lot about United’s plan and he convinced me. In the end, we verbally agreed to it.”
He further added,” I’m not someone who thinks about what could have been. Yes, it was close. I was almost a Manchester United player, but it didn’t happen.” Not one to regret his decisions, Kroos went on to conquer Europe time and again in Madrid, which he doesn’t think would have been possible. “I can say one thing with certainty,” he continued, “at Manchester United, I wouldn’t have won the Champions League three times.”
Pogba’s Transfer Breakdown
After a poor pre-season performance by the team, the club was set to make its attacking game strong as they were looking to sign the French midfielder Paul Pogba. Paul Pogba was linked with Real Madrid throughout the summer transfer and had come close to sign for the club. The powerful Frenchman had also received an offer by Real Madrid that involved James Rodriguez.
But according to THE TIMES, Manchester United had declined the offer and was asking about €150 million for Paul Pogba. They didn’t consider the offer by Madrid good enough for them to agree.
Real Madrid wasn’t alone in their race to sign Paul Pogba as Juventus had also joined in the pursuit to sign the player.
But now as the Premier League transfer window is open now, the Pogba race has finally come to an end with none of the club able to sign the Frenchman.
Neymar To Madrid?
As Pobga’s transfer has not been fruitful, Real Madrid is taking their chances to sign the Ex-Barcelona player Neymar Junior. In terms of price, it is said that PSG is seeking to recoup its €222m investment and would ask for at least half €111m to be paid in cash to sign the player. Gareth Bale, whose future in Madrid appears to be uncertain, and Keylor Navas are talked about as players that may be used to get the Brazilian Starman.
As the Spanish Transfer window is open till the 2nd of September Madrid can still try to sign Neymar as Barcelona are facing financial issues and they are again unlikely to sign the Brazilian this time.
