Signing Neymar from Paris Saint Germain is rumoured to be a top priority for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid will be in the summer transfer market in search of players able to make a difference for them next season. The Los Blancos endured a horrible campaign this time around as Barcelona clinched the La Liga title yet again. In the UEFA Champions League, a tournament they won thrice in three years, they lost out to Ajax in pre-quarters.
Among those rumoured to join Real Madrid is Neymar. The Paris Saint Germain forward has been linked with a return to La Liga and rumours have it that Real Madrid would be his destination.
However, Real Madrid will have to pay Neymar a staggering amount in wages if they want him. According to reports in the AS, Real Madrid would need to pay the Brazilian a mammoth £1.2 million per week. It means that the Madrid based club would need to pay him £62 million a year.
Neymar had previously played for Real Madrid’s arch-rivals FC Barcelona before leaving for Paris Saint Germain in search of greener pastures. His spell in Spain was a successful one as he was crucial to Barcelona’s success.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are in a big revival this summer. Numerous players are slated to leave while many others are tipped to join the ranks at Santiago Bernabeu.
The void left by Cristiano Ronaldo is still there and Neymar could step in to fill it. Real Madrid did not make any top signings in the previous transfer windows and have endured its consequence. They cannot afford another tumultuous season and will probably be recruiting top players.
Signing Neymar would be a shrewd decision. The Brazilian has already proven his mettle in the La Liga by shining for FC Barcelona. Spain is no strange destination for him and it will not likely take any time for him to adapt to the Spanish style.
Neymar has failed to help Paris Saint Germain win the Champions League. If he wants to take his career to the next level and win Ballon d’Or, a move to Real Madrid is certainly recommended.
