Revealed: Man Utd star makes two demands of Real Madrid for summer transfer

After failing to land him in 2015 due to mysterious reasons, Real Madrid will now have to meet two conditions before Manchester United star David De Gea can make the move back to La Liga.

This is a saga has been ongoing for a while now. Every summer David De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. However, he has stayed at Manchester United and has been excellent for the past few years ever since his failed £30million transfer to Madrid.

The Spanish keeper has previously committed his future to the Red Devils, however, there has always been talk of Real Madrid’s interest in the former Atletico Madrid keeper.

According to Spanish news outlet, Don Balon, the Spanish shot-stopper is finally ready to make the move to the Bernabeu this summer. However, it is also reported that Real Madrid must meet two conditions before signing the Manchester United star.

The first of De Gea’s demands is that current no.1 keeper Keylor Navas be sold. The Costa Rican has done admirably well since his move from Levante. But his future has always been thrown into doubt and De Gea wants the former Levante keeper to be out of the picture.

The second demand made by him is that Real Madrid do not let another summer saga happen. Two years ago, the Spanish keeper was tormented all summer with offers and negotiations, however, at the last minute, the move just did not happen.

The 26-year-old wishes to avoid another situation like that and wants a smooth transition back to La Liga football. The Spaniard also wishes the deal to be done and dusted before the World Cup begins in Russia. He is likely going to be Spain’s number 1 heading into the tournament and would like to have a clear state of mind before helping his country win the trophy they did eight years ago.

Author’s take

It is fair for De Gea to make these demands, after all, he would be sacrificing a lot by leaving Manchester United. If Navas is sold, it’s a good deal for both parties, the Costa Rican would enjoy his football at another club and Madrid would be able to offer more game time to Kepa Arrizabalaga when he joins in the summer.
