Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard was linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu to fill the huge void left by Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Italian behemoths Juventus, but a deal did not go through before the transfer slammed shut at the end of August.
Chelsea have started their 2018-19 season on a positive note. Under the tutelage of former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri, who replaced Antonio Conte in the summer, the Blues have performed so far this season and look set to resume their fine performance once the action resumes after the International break.
Chelsea superstar and Belgian international Eden Hazard has been one of Chelse’s top performers this season. Hazard, who was a part of the Belgian squad that travelled to Russia and reached the semi-finals in the FIFA World Cup, was linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge and a potential move to Spain to join giants Real Madrid, as the Los Blancos looked to strengthen their attacking department. However, Chelsea managed to keep the player away from Real Madrid.
Now, Eden Hazard has revealed that Chelsea did not want him to leave them in Spain. The player also admitted that he is not regretting about staying at Chelsea. Hazard, who has time and again made his intentions to join Real Madrid clear, said, ‘‘Chelsea were clear with me [in the summer]. I couldn’t leave the club,’’ the Belgium international told Telefoot. ‘‘I accepted it. Anyway… leaving or staying, I was going to be happy. I do not regret this decision at all.’’
Hazard also said that he wants to leave Chelsea on good terms similar to the way he left Lille to join the English Premier League side. He said, ‘‘When decisions are made [that you may not like] you can sulk and often you get the last word. But I will never look to clash with the club. Chelsea have given me a lot. I left Lille on good terms and I want to do the same thing here.’’
Sooner or later, Hazard will leave Chelsea. He wants to be the best and a move to Spain is the best he could do to make it happen. However, a January exit from Chelsea is highly unlikely.
