The coach of the Belgian national side, Roberto Martinez has backed Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku to overcome adversities and shine once again, as his critics have been going berserk over the fact that the attacker failed to leave his mark on the game against Chelsea.
The match that ended in a 1-0 win for the Blues, saw their summer signing Alvaro Morata, who was signed as a potential replacement for the former Everton man when he decided to move to Old Trafford.Though he made a terrific start to life at The Theatre of Dreams, his recent slump has been all over the news, as the Red Devils now trail their domestic rivals Manchester City by eight points, after 11 matches.
If Jose Mourinho’s side are not able to perform well in the upcoming days, the gap could widen and they could eventually fade away from the title race. This would be a concern for the players and the fans, who have really worked hard to make a really good start to the new campaign.
Roberto Martinez backs Lukaku at United
His critics can’t stop taking a dig at the 24-year-old striker, though it is his national team boss Martinez, who has backed the attacker to relish this challenge now.
The Spaniard who worked with Lukaku during their time at Goodison Park feels that such a challenge will only inspire the Manchester United man to do better this season and in the future.

He added that it was important that the player kept working hard and performed the way he had been doing when he was scoring and even when he was not.
Hopefully, the manager who has already worked with Lukaku for four years, as he mentioned, can end his poor form and get him back to scoring goals, soon. It will not only help his national team but the Manchester-based side as well.
Author’s Take
Well, Lukaku has been always amongst the goals in recent seasons and can surely bounce back to get back on the score-sheet. Now the main question remains is how long will be taken to do that, as each point dropped means handing the advantage to the Citizens.
Another factor would be the fact that he needs to start scoring in the big games, which might be on his mind too. Hopefully, he can change that and silence his critics soon.
Mourinho will also have a key role to play in this and will want to help his star get back to his best, not just in the top flight of English football, but other cup competitions as well.
