Monday saw one of the darkest days in the history of football as the Brazilian football team, Chapecoense suffered a major loss of 19 of its football players in a plane crash.
Since then there have been numerous voices raised in their support and footballers such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have offered their condolences as well as support to this club.
While this local Brazilian team is still in shock, there have been rumours stating the football titans such as Ronaldinho and Riquelme offering their services to the Chapecoense for free.
While Ronaldinho didn’t comment on this news, his brother and manager Roberto Assis spoke to a local media and told that the former Barcelona star does want to help the tragedy stuck Brazilian team.
However, he did waive off any rumour with regards to the Ronaldinho’s transfer to Chapecoense. He said ““He (Ronaldinho) fits the profile, can be the right guy. But the moment is to help families, and it would be (wrong) to create expectations for now. As Brazilians, we feel involved. We are together.”
Following this rumour, there were also speculations with respect to Argentine national Riquelme making a comeback from his retirement. This player who scored 17 goals for his country in 51 appearances had retired back in 2015 and is thought to join this first division team for free.
Although any comments from this Argentine are still awaited, we do wish to see these two legends play and at the same time help raise this club to the stature it already was.
Numerous top clubs have agreed to free loan their players to the Chapecoense football team, and have even raised a petition to the local Football Federation exempting this club from relegation for next three years to come.
