Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has showered praise on club talisman Eden Hazard after his goal against Bournemouth in the League Cup.
The Blues progressed into the semi-finals of the English League Cup last night after a 1-0 win over Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri’s men will now take on London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in order to progress through to the finals of the competition. Belgian star winger Eden Hazard came off the bench to score the only decisive goal just six minutes before the full-time whistle to send Chelsea through and earned praise from his teammate Ross Barkley.
Despite creating chances in the game, Chelsea was unable to convert them, but Ross Barkley was subbed off after starting the game and made way for Hazard. Barkley though, felt as if it was certain for a goal to arrive in the game when Hazard came on.
While speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the English midfielder couldn’t stop praising his teammate and admitted that he is able to create magical moments in big games, “The way we were playing, you could see we had the belief that a goal was going to come. When Eden got that goal, he can produce magic moments like that. Credit to him and the team who got stuck in.”
Barkley went on to add that Hazard is enjoying his football and can create goals and assist for other teammates during games despite being laid back in training.
“He’s playing really well. He’s up there with the best in the world. He can produce goals like that out of nothing and to play with a player like that is fantastic. He’s relaxed, but once he’s on the training pitch he’s magical. He plays with enjoyment. He scores goals and creates goals. He’s laid-back, but on game day he’s ready to make things happen.”
Author’s Take-
Hazard has been quiet for a few months but it seems like he is slowly getting back to his brutal best off late. Hopefully, he can start peaking for Chelsea at the right time and help them win the League Cup this season to add gloss to Sarri’s football.
