AC Milan target Juventus and Atletico Madrid superstars as an alternatives

AC Milan have targeted potential defensive reinforcements for the winter window, from Juventus and Atletico Madrid, as the Serie A giants push for a Champions League spot.

According to the latest reports, AC Milan director Leonardo still regards Sau Paulo’s 25-year old Rodrigo Caio as the number one priority to help solve the defensive crisis of the club. The red and black are thin on depth in the centre of their  rearguard due to the injury sustained by the centre back of Milan Mattia Caldara which will likely see him out for quite some time until the new year.

Rodrigo Caio valued at €15 million is reportedly the most attractive option as AC Milan director Leonardo has excellent relation with the Brazilian club Sau Paulo, while the 25-year old Central midfielder is an experienced defender and also has an Italian passport. In 2013 coach Paulo Autouri purred, “He’s got great talents, Everyone should learn from him. He’s got a positive attitude and a winning personality, which is vital when you’re building a team.” It looked like the sky was the limit for Rodrigo. He shone at the Rio Olympics last summer and again there is talk of a move to Europe.
However the list of alternatives has also been drawn up, the report also claims that Stefan Savic, a central midfielder of an Atletico Madrid, is an option, while the duo of Juventus namely Mehdi Benatia, Daniele Rugani are also possibilities given their lack of playing time under Max Allegri. Also, given the impending arrival of Lucas Papqueta from Flamengo for €35 million, it may be difficult to find all the necessary cash.
Also Sau Paulo are reportedly asking for the €15m for the exchange of the Brazilian, it is also an evaluation that the Milan’s are considering, although for now it is just an idea shared by the Milan sports director Leonardo.
Author’s take:
Rodrigo is Brazil’s one of the most cultured defender. He is a player who see defending as a art rather than the war. Talented with a ball at his feet, he is a natural leader and an organiser, tenacious and dedicated to his task. Rossoneri is in a great need of this young talent in order to lift up the defensive crisis.
