Roy Keane Accuses Manchester United of Disrespecting Cristiano Ronaldo

Roy Keane has accused Manchester United of showing disrespect to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese was left as an unused substitute in their defeat to Manchester City.

Ronaldo has not had a good start to the 22/23 season, and the 37-year-old has seemingly lost his place in the Manchester United starting XI.

Ronaldo has featured in eight games for Man Utd so far in the 22/23 season. But only three of those have been as a start. The rest have been appearances off the bench.

Ronaldo has also struggled to score goals this season. He has only netted one goal for the Red Devils so far this season. That too came in his eighth match of the season for the Old Trafford outfit.

Man Utd insisted Ronaldo is not for sale, while the interest in Portuguese was also few and far between. He ended up staying at the club.

Keane claims that Man Utd should not have held on to Ronaldo just to keep him sitting on the bench.

I think Man United are showing disrespect to Ronaldo. I think he should have been let go before the [closing] of the window,” Keane told Sky Sports.

Okay, you’re the manager, you need options but you don’t hold onto Ronaldo to sit on the bench. He’s one of the greatest players ever.

He’s played him in one or two European games. It’s just going to get uglier as the season goes on.

If he’s sitting on the bench for United, week in, week out it’s just going to get uglier. I think United have shown nothing but disrespect to Ronaldo.

They should have let him go when the opportunity came. He did have options, I know that for a fact.

But to hold onto Ronaldo to sit on the bench, I think is ridiculous for a player of his stature.
