SA vs IND: Despite the growing concern over the new variant of Covid-19, Cricket South Africa (CSA) is confident that the series against India will go as per the plan.
The Netherlands recently canceled two of their three matches amidst the emergence of the new variant. Both teams played the first ODI of the series on 26th November. The match ended in a no-result due to persistent rain. However, on 27th November, both the boards mutually decided to postpone the series. The decision was taken due to the restrictions imposed by several countries on the flights arriving from South Africa.
However, India A tour of South Africa is going as per the decided schedule. The first unofficial Test of the three-match series ended in a draw on 26th November. Both teams will feature in the second unofficial Test starting from 30th November.
India is scheduled to play three Test matches, three ODIs, and four T20Is in a long tour starting from 17th December.
Cricket South Africa’s interim CEO, Pholetsi Moseki, has cleared all the clouds of uncertainty over India’s tour of South Africa. In an interview with thesouthafrican.com, he said that the CSA is certain that the SA vs IND series will occur as per the plans.
Also, he mentioned that both the boards are in constant touch and committed to the tour. BCCI also wants this tour to take place as per the schedule.
CSA is pretty confident about the security of the bio-bubble. Moseki mentioned that CSA would not take any risk.
As per the words of the CEO, one can assume that the entire series will take place, and both the boards might do anything for that to happen.
India is currently playing a Test series against New Zealand in India. The first Test match of this series has ended in a draw. The next Test scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, will start on 3rd December and end on 7th December. The Indian team is likely to take a charter flight from Mumbai to Johannesburg in the second week of December. It will be a bubble-to-bubble transfer.
The first SA vs IND Test will start on 17th December at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. The boxing day Test match will take place at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. Newlands, Cape Town will host the third Test of the series from 3rd January 2022 to 7th January 2022.
South Africa and India will play the first ODI on 11th January at the Boland Park, Paarl. The following two ODIs will occur on 14th January and 16th January, respectively, at the Newlands, Cape Town.
The T20I series will start on 19th January. The first two matches will be played at the Newlands, Cape Town, and Boland Park, Paarl will host the last two.
