Pep Guardiola recently confirmed that his star midfielder Leroy Sane would stay put at the City of Manchester Stadium in the summer amid interest from Bayern Munich and that is bad news for Frank Lampard and Chelsea as the Bundesliga giants will now focus their attention towards negotiating a deal for Callum Hudson Odoi.
Bayern Munich is in a transition phase at the moment as the German giants are looking to replace their old and veteran wingers with fresh new speedsters on the flanks. It’s clear that Niko Kovac is looking into the summer transfer window to sign up a few young talents and the Croatian manager had Manchester City’s Leroy Sane at the top of his transfer list.
But Spanish boss Pep Guardiola confirmed that Sane will not be leaving the blue half of Manchester. When asked if the 23-year-old German winger will remain at the club Guardiola replied, “Yes, the club made him an offer last year. As I said many times, we want people happy to be here. We are going to help him to be the best. “
“We know his potential and what his level is. He has a special quality difficult to find around the world. He knows, they all know, it’s difficult (to play regularly) because of the quality we have. But, at the same time, I spoke to the club 10 times (to say) I want people here to be happy. If they don’t want, they go. The desire to have him to be with us is always there.”
Guardiola’s comments will be great news for City fans but terrible news for the Chelsea faithful as Bayern Munich will now look to target Blues winger Callum Hudson Odoi in the summer as an alternative to Sane. The Bavarians looked to poach Hudson Odoi in the January transfer market but the 18-year-old winger decided to continue playing his football at Stamford Bridge.
Hudson Odoi has only one more year left on his current contract with the Blues and with lack of regular football at Chelsea, the teenage sensation might look elsewhere to play football and at a better club. The Allianz Arena would be a great place for the Englishman to kickstart his career and make a name for himself.
I think that Hudson Odoi will have to decide whether he wants to commit his future at Chelsea but with Frank Lampard at the helm and Eden Hazard’s departure, the 18-year-old attacker should get more football.
