Sky Sports Pundit Thinks These Chelsea Players Will Leave This Winter

According to Sky Sports presenter Dharmesh Sheth, Chelsea trio of Danny Drinkwater, Andreas Christensen, and Callum Hudson Odoi will be at the exit door at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

Since taking over at Chelsea in the summer, Maurizio Sarri has transformed the club and implemented his style of play and philosophy at the West London outfit. The Blues sit on 4th place on the Premier League table and have even made it to the semi-finals of the League Cup. Chelsea also managed to top their group in the Europa League and have done well under the Italian boss.

However, there are still a few players deemed as surplus at Chelsea and the board will be hoping to get rid of them in the January transfer window. English midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been kept out of the squad after Jorginho arrived at Stamford Bridge. Back in October Andreas Christensen made a plea to Chelsea to allow his son to leave on a permanent deal if he wasn’t used as a regular. Another player who could leave the club on loan is Callum Hudson Odoi after the youngster impressed during pre-season.

While speaking to Sky Sports, Dharma Sheth believes that Drinkwater, Hudson Odoi and Christensen could be out of the door at Chelsea in the winter transfer window, “Danny Drinkwater, remember him? He’s still at Chelsea believe it or not. Andreas Christensen was a regular under Antonio Conte. Remember Conte kind of froze out David Luiz and brought Christensen in.

Now it’s flipped. David Luiz seems to be the flavor of the month as far as Sarri is concerned and Christensen isn’t getting a game. He’s obviously not happy and he’s made it clear that he’s not happy – but he doesn’t expect Chelsea to sell him this month. The one other player who is on the fringes of the first team squad is Callum Hudson-Odoi.  We’re told they’re listening to offers for the player – but only loan offers.”

Author’s Take-

Chelsea is still in a developing phase and Sarri should decide on the players he wants. Drinkwater seems likely to leave but I feel that Christensen or Hudson Odoi could be used as squad members who could re-enforce Chelsea deeper in the season.
