SL vs PAK: Team India were expected to defend the Asia Cup title in the Gulf nation. In fact, they emerged as the favourites, given the strength and core of the team.
They also started the Asia Cup with back-to-back wins against Pakistan and Hong Kong and announced their dominance in style. However, it wasn’t the same when it came to Super 4 stage.
India clearly struggled to dictate terms and ended up losing to both Sri Lanka and Pakistan. As a result, the Men in Blue were eliminated from the competition.
Pakistan locked horns with Sri Lanka in the final in Dubai. Despite losing the toss, Sri Lanka went on to post a competitive total of 170/8 in 20 overs.
In reply, the Sri Lankans defended the total and went on to win the game by 23 runs in the high-voltage encounter. They won their sixth title in Asia Cup history, just one less than India (who won seven titles).
Bhasun Rajapaksa was named the man of the match for his batting masterclass. On the other hand, Wanindu Hasaranga was named the man of the tournament for his consistent performances.
SL vs PAK: Fan wearing Indian jersey barred from witnessing Asia Cup 2022 final
Meanwhile, Bharat Army posted a video clip on their Twitter handle in which some fans claimed that they were not allowed to enter the stadium.
The reason why they were barred from entering the stadium is that they were wearing the Indian team’s jersey. The video has gone viral on social media.
According to the video, a fan stated that the security staff notified them they could only enter the stadium only if they wore a Pakistani or Sri Lankan jersey.
Amidst all these chaos, one of the Indian fans found a unique way of entering the stadium. He was seen donning Sri Lanka’s jersey.
Later on in the game, he was also seen removing the Sri Lankan jersey and showed off his Indian jersey. The video clip has been doing the rounds since then.
