Manchester United’s unbeaten run under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues as the Red Devils beat Leicester City 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Marcus Rashford.
United’s caretaker coach Solskjaer admitted that they could play better. He lauded their defense for the performance they delivered against United. “We put our bodies on line, blocked a few. We know we can play better. Today, we could have controlled the game more and when we didn’t, we fought for the next ball… We put our heads on the line, we put our bodies on the line. It was a great defensive performance inside the box.” he told Manchester United’s official website.
Marcus Rashford the game’s only goal and Pogba assisted it with a superb pass. Solskjaer, asked about the goal, said, “When they get to know each other, play more together, know each others strengths and with the quality they have got, you expect that quality there. It was a beautiful pass, great finish.”
France International midfielder Paul Pogba has been performing well for Manchester United since the Solskjaer took over the mantle. Against Leicester City, he delivered another good performance. Speaking on that, Solskjaer said that player can still improve. He said, “I think he can look back on these games and say he is on his way. Paul is a fantastic midfielder and he can always improve. He is one those lads who want to improve, who sees his game and wants to see what could have done better.”
With this victory Manchester United have 48 points, two less than Chelsea, and one more than Arsenal, who were beaten by Manchester City in their recent Premier League fixture. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co will be looking to continue their fine run and capitalise on situations where Chelsea drop points, to enter into the top four, which looks like a realistic target.
Author’s Take
It was not the best performance from Manchester United but at the end of the day, they earned all three points. Meanwhile, Arsenal lost to Manchester City as Aguero bagged a hat-trick. If Chelsea lose against Manchester City in their next game and United win against Fulham, they will be able to enter into top-four.
