Spurs and Man City lead the Team of the Week

Game week 9 of the Premier League has been all about one-sided matches and shocking results.

Manchester City and Spurs‘ players dominate team of the week.Man City had a comfortable 3-0 win over Burnley and Spurs thrashed Liverpool by a 4-1 win at home.


1. Hugo Lloris:

Once again Spurs’ keeper Hugo Lloris showed a brilliant goalkeeping display, perhaps he should have reacted quicker for Mohamed Salah’s goal. He saved Liverpool’s 7 shots on target and conceded just one goal. Spurs were dominant in the match and had a comfortable victory at their home against a strong Premier League side like Liverpool.

2. Fabian Delph:

Fabian Delph completed 95 passes in the 3-0 victory against Burnley with an accuracy of 93% and deservingly made himself a place in the team of the week as a left back. He played whole 90 minutes without receiving a card.

3. Nicolas Otamendi:

Nicolas Otamendi, the Manchester City star defender once again scored a goal and this time it was against Burnley. The defender made 4 clearances, 2 tackles and scored the second goal of the match assisted by Leroy Sane.

4. Van Dijk:

Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool’s summer transfer target and Southhampton’s defensive wall Virgil Van Dijk recovered possession 12 times in the 1-0 victory against West Brom. He has been doing well for Southhampton even after constantly being rumoured about leaving the club.

5. Bruno Saltor:

Brighton and Hove Albion had a dominant 3-0 victory against West Ham United. Bruno had the most touches in this match than any other Brighton player and also made 3 important interceptions. This was an important win for Brighton to boost their confidence back.

6. Abdoulaye Doucoure:

The Watford man Doucoure has been in great form since the start of the season and scored his 4th goal of the season against Chelsea in the 4-2 defeat. He also recovered possessions in the midfield, but Watford couldn’t win the game even though they were leading in the first half.

7. Dele Alli:

Dele Alli scored a goal once again, by pouncing on a poor Joel Matip clearance to regain the 2-0 lead against Liverpool when they were pushing for a late first-half equalizer. He also created two goal-scoring chances.

8. Kevin De Bruyne:-

Kevin De Bruyne once again featured in the Premier League team of the week with another great performance, this time against Burnley in the City’s 3-0 win. He created 4 chances and notched an assist. The Belgian midfielder is the most reliable player in the current Man City squad.

9. Alexis Sanchez:

Alexis Sanchez was in a great form in the game against Everton. With a brilliant goal and an assist, he contributed in Gunners’ 5-2 victory. This was Arsenal’s first away win the Premier League this season.

10. Mesut Ozil:

The German International is back in form. He created 8 chances including an assist, also scored a header goal assisted by the Chilean Alexis Sanchez.  For the first time, Alexis, Lacazette and Ozil played together in a game.

11. Kane:

Harry Kane becomes the top scorer in the Premier League so far after scoring 2 goals in the easy win against Liverpool. He also added an assist. Kane scored with both his shots on target and contributed in another win for Spurs.

Author’s Take:

The game week 9 has been the most surprising game week so far this season. Manchester United lost against Huddersfield Town, Dominant Spurs team against Liverpool and first away win for Arsenal were the highlights of the game week. City leads the table with a strong goal difference of +28 and 25 points, Man United still remain at the second place, spurs on the third spot followed by Chelsea and Arsenal at the 4th and 5th place respectively with only the difference between goals.
